Tohru giggled and mirrored Shigure's hand. "I'm going to hurry up and pick the leeks," she said, leaving the tray with him and walking towards the door, feeling considerably brightened. "If Yuki-kun needs me or if you need anything I'll be in the garden!"
She went into the kitchen and pulled out an old, fraying basket and walked outside. It wasn't a very good time to start picking leeks...in fact it was nearing night time, but at least the sun wouldn't be in her eyes.
Tohru carelessly tossed her hair over her shoulders rather than braid it and knelt down into the cool soil, pushing her hands into it. She loved how it felt, how it smelled. She let go and started searching out the leeks that were about a half inch in diameter. She pulled them out and dropped them in the basket, sticking her tongue between her lips in concentration. When she had enough for three days, she sighed in satisfaction and took them inside.
She washed them carefully and pulled out the cutting board, laying out about two pounds and sliced them down the white part.
Tohru emptied the old pot she had used for the vegetable soup (she put the soup in a container in the fridge) and washed it out before placing olive oil and the leeks inside. She waited until they were golden then added flour and mixed it out until it was smooth. Once that was complete she added a half quart of hot stock and boiled it until the leeks were hardly visible anymore.
It was complete. She wiped her forehead and looked at the clock.
7:41:57 7:41:58 7:41:59 7:42:00
Tohru untied her apron and set out to clean up the mess she had made for both soups and then, as she had done before, pulled out two trays and two bowls. She put the soup into the bowls and put toasted bread on top of the soup and sprinkled parmesan cheese on top and set them into the oven for ten minutes.
"Finally done!" she said, grinning from ear to ear. She pulled them out with an oven mitt and set them on the trays.
7:53:02...
Sure that Shigure would be starving by now (and thinking Yuki might be up as well) she set off to Shigure's study, steaming bowl and tray in hand.
[ Geez, longest post ever. I did a little research and found a recipe for leek soup. ]

(Huzzah! I can finally join this thread!)
Kyo woke up, feeling worse than he had before he had gone to rest. "How could this be possible?" he said to himself, still in sllep mode and not making much sense in the real world. He had gone to sleep in the hallway just outside of Shigure's study.
After shaking off his sleepy feeling a little more he finally sat up and leaned against the wall near the door. There he sat staring into space, trying to keep his focus. He was failling at this, however, as he did not even notice Tohru as she walked to the study. Right now he was more attuned to his ears than his eyes, and he was not adept at telling the differences in the sound people make while walking. For all he knew It could be that rat boy walking down the hall.

Tohru walked towards Shigure's study, reaching the door and muffling a gasp of surprise at seeing Kyo sitting up and leaning against the wall. "Kyo-kun!" she said, gripping the tray. "Are...are you okay?"

"What the HELL do you want?!"
Kyo still wasn't sure who he was talking to but this was usually his response to people so he figured whoever it was he was talking to, he was safe. He looked up angrily to scare the person off.
"Oh... Tohru... I-uh-I mean what do you... need?"
When Kyo finally had realized that Tohru had asked a question he stood up as fast as he could, which wasn't terribly fast.
"I'm fine," he let out weakly, "It must be raining really hard, I never do well in the rain."
Kyo had not heard of all that had happened before, and the rain seemed like the only cause for him not feeling well.

Tohru looked at him painfully. "It isn't raining today," she said, biting her lip. "It's the curse...earlier today...Akito...he...died." She swallowed, feeling horrible for telling him and feeling immense guilt since she blamed his death on herself. "I'm so sorry Kyo-kun..."

A hundred thoughts raced through Kyo's mind.
What does this mean? Are we free, or doomed? Should I even care? I should be happy, but I don't know what I'm feeling now. Why is she upset, what does this have to do with her?
Kyo wasn't sure which of these thoghts he should articulate. Probably none. He stood there for a few seconds , but to him it felt like hours, he wasn't sure why though, usually time only slowed for him during a fight, were these feelings what drove him? Finally he reacted.
"So..."
This sickened Kyo, with all these ideas and feelings going through his head he still kept his uncaring front up.

"So...you're sick because now Akito isn't there to bear the curse. At least...I think that's right. Yuki is very sick in his room but...we found out that you can hug now. That's good, right? I'm so happy..." she said, trying to put a brave smile on her face. It did make her happy, but she was sure that the sickness, especially the heavy sickness of Yuki, overcame it.

"...we found out that you can hug now. That's good, right? I'm so happy..." Sorry, but that has to be the best line yet. Hug me, Kyo! Hug me! Posting seriously later tonight.

Kyo was hit by the news, but not as hardly as any of the other members of the family, afterall Akito didn't know the meaning of the word curse, at least in Kyo's mind. Upon hearing that he could hug, sweat broke out on the back of his neck.
What is she trying to say? Maybe we should hug. But I'm not even sure if she likes me. She did stop to talk to me, but what does that mean, she lives here.
A hundred different thoughts raced through his mind now. But he was determined to act on them this time, or at least act a little differently. He slowly moved near Tohru, and was about to raise his arms when one final thought came to him.
If Akito was holding back the curse, than why can we hug after his death. The curse was suppose to be the animal forms. If they're gone now then what was he holding back. Was he being selfish, keeping us under his command, controling every aspect of the Sohma house just because of an illness. This horrible feeling isn't a curse, it's Akito's final punishment!
Kyo couldn't do it. He couldn't stand being here with all those people who had actually mourned the loss of Akito, were they blind to his scheme?
"No!"
Kyo stormed into Shigure's study looking for someone to yell at.

Shigure turned on hearing Kyo burst into the study. "Hmm?" smiling brightly, "Ah Kyo-kun, you finally decided to show up!" Noticing Kyo's storming behavior, "And I see you're perfectly normal."

Tohru jumped when Kyo screamed, nearly spilling the hot soup all over herself. She contemplated whether to turn into the room or not (what if Kyo wanted to have a private talk with Shigure?) but decided that Shigure would probably want his soup warm.
She stepped into the room, an uncertain smile on her face. "Shigure-san, the soup is ready. Would you like it now? Kyo-kun, you should eat some, too."
[ LOL. She didn't mean the hug thing like THAT. HAHAHAH. ]

"Ah, thank you," turning to Kyo," Kyo-kun, isn't Tohru-kun so kind to us. You wouldn't reject the food that she's labored so hard to make, would you? Of course not," pausing for a second as he put his hand thoughtfully to his chin, "unless of course you wanted to insult her in the worst way..." he replied drawing out the last line as he glanced to see Kyo's reaction.

Kyo's Face went pale, it was already somewhat pale so the difference was only slight, he wasn't sure how to respond to this. He knew that Shigure had always found a way of controling him, maybe that's why he was living here, but he didn't want to seem weak.
He turned abrutly towards tohru and took the soup from here tray. With a look of contempt towards Shigure he drank some from the bowl.
Leeks!
Why were there leeks in the soup? Shigure had done it too him again. He started spitting it out but then remembered tohru standing next to him. He caught himself, however it dribbled down his chin onto his shirt and the subtle smell of leeks hung in the air. This was disgusting to Kyo, but he tried not to let on.
"Happy now?!"

Tohru muffled a giggle with the back of her hand. "Would you like me to get another bowl? I made enough leek soup for the next few days. I hope the new recipe is okay...does it make the leeks taste better?" she asked, looking to Kyo. It had been one of the reasons she had gone with the new recipe in the first place (plus it was good practice).

Why did she make anything with leeks?
"Oh no... please don't go to the trouble." Kyo was trying his very hardest to keep cool, while still trying to act strong in front of Shigure. But he could not find a response for the second question right off the bat.
Maybe if I don't say anything she won't ask again.
Kyo's stance was very stange at this moment, he just couldn't decide who to face. So he compromised and stood looking at niether of them.
