(Hello. Yay, first new thread! Anyway, might as well give the Proboards a try, and here goes. I just came up with this intro today, so no berating. I still have to go back and get OCD on it.)
The warm afternoon sun spread an easy comfortable feel over the day, making most of those wandering the streets of the town smile. It was, after all, a beautiful day to be outside, and who could focus on dour thoughts on a day like today. Who indeed? The girl thought to herself, her caustic sense not at all lessened by the cloudless day. A passing couple smiled, greeting her as they walked, and though she did not respond the tap of her knee high black boots against the sidewalk became sharper as though annoyed. Her name was Isuzu Sohma, but most people called her Rin, named for the sound of a bell. Such, soft sweet names for a girl who had a tendency to be so cold. Must’ve been some sort of irony. She briefly closed her dark eyes, a sigh escaping pale glossed lips. The only sign of indecision and weakness with her pride would allow her to show, at least for now. Where was she to go? School had already let out, and even then, she’d skipped today. She’d been doing that more and more as of late. She didn’t want to go to Kagura’s house, or anywhere near the Sohma Estate. So…she walked, her destination known only perhaps to her subconscious, and she was not willing to admit even to herself that she knew exactly where she was going. Still, when she started into the woods, it became almost blindingly obvious. Her walk was more of a determined lope, befitting to her long graceful form. Black seemed to be the predominant choice for her clothing, her short skirt, her tank top, the arm bands around her wrists, even the cross around her neck. Her hair, too, seemed to follow the designed color scheme. Waist length, thick, it fell in heavy locks around her, occasionally shifting to reveal the thick pink scar that marred the creamy skin of her right shoulder. Shigure-nii’s house lay before her, and Rin peered out from the easy cover of the trees. Could she go in there? Did she want to? She knew Gure-nii knew nothing more of the curse, nor how to free them of it. Also, that idiot Yuki would most likely be there along with Kyo. And that girl, Honda. She felt angry as she thought about her meddling, her arrogance. How could this girl presume to do what Rin could not, when she couldn’t even truly understand the weight of this curse. Perhaps he would be there. She fidgeted slightly, reaching around her shoulder to brush the aforementioned scar, both rough and smooth. A gift from Akito for daring to love him. It had been a secret, their secret. How could he’ve known? It didn’t matter now. She had to hate him, never see him. It was for his own good, at least until she could end the curse. Rin tilted her head back, heavy bangs falling to the side. Looking, up to sky…if it was such a beautiful day, why did she feel like this?

The black and white haired boy sat on his bike at the corner of the street. His solemn expression distorted by some of the hair falling before his dark eyes. He always looked one way or the other, and today, he had a sad look to him. His J-rock style outfit consisting of a tight leather jacket, leather pants, and black combat boots made him stand out just a bit. Underneath his black leather jacket was a red sleeveless shirt. The sun was out, but, somehow he could not find a happiness within the light. There was only a thick, crisp darkness. His frown became more visible as he continued on his bike-ride to Shigure's house for the while. He'd go home a tad bit later, no harm done.
Hatsuharu Sohma felt a strange feeling deep inside of himself. He looked around and then shook his head, he had too much on his mind at the time. He continued to bicycle on his way, attention on the side-walk and no longer in the clouds.

What was that? That sound. She knew what it was, obviously, having heard it far too many times not to recognize the unique sound of Hatsuharu's bike spokes whirring, and scarily close. You see, while Haru had been heading towards the house, so had Rin, deciding, if nothing else, she could talk with Gure-nii for a while until she felt like leaving. Perhaps going to kagura's, perhaps not. Her eyes widened, and her lips formed a small 'o' of surprise. She'd half-expected to see him hear, but that had almost been a dream, a fantasy, not something real until she heard him coming. It had been more likely she'd see Yuki...or Honda. And her, wide out in the open; he would see her. Two extremely strong and conflicting emotions raged within her, one to run, and the other to see Haru. She took a median, and froze, standing near the outside wall of them home and simply watching, her expression as blank as she could make it.

Haru's eyes caught sight of a figure standing not too far ahead. Rin. He pulled to a stop and debated in his mind if he should continue or begin the long trip home. His first impulse was to turn and head home, but, something made him go forwards. So, he headed all the way to Shigure's house, stopping before the house, not even glancing at Rin. He had been shaking ever sinc ehe'd seen her and just realized it.
Steadying himself, he climbed off his bike and walked up the steps of the house. He froze there, like an idiot, and thought secondly of what he;d done. He shook his head in shame and turned, walking back to his bike.

"H-" Rin started, and paused. She couldn't do this. Akito would kill her. Or worse, kill him. She could remember only to clearly his fists, his nails, his cold, cold eyes. The whispered threats in that dark room. The girl repressed a shudder with only the greatest difficulty. "Haru, don't bother, I'm gonna leave anyway." She said it as emotionlessly as she could, or she tried to. She turned, taking only one last glance at the boy she loved. Akito would kill him, murder him just to hurt Rin. She wouldn't put it past him.

Haru looked at her, his expression dropped solidly. He didn't bother hiding it, he just stood there. Like an idiot... Again... He watched her turn away, he finally managed to choke out the words, "Rin-... Wait." he walked towards her, "Why do you always turn away? It's as if, someone's making you...."
There it was again, that selfishness in his questions. He bit his lip, then regained his posture and facial expression. He stared at her, in all her beauty. His heart sank, he loved her, he truely did, but, was he selfish for it?

Because I am! Because I need you to be safe.... Rin tossed her head, as though this was a ridiculous notion. "No one's making me, Haru," she snapped, sounding annoyed. "I'm leaving because I want to. My choices are my own." Her tone dared him to argue, as did her eyes, but perhaps some part of her wanted him to argue. To sustain this small bit of conversation a little bit longer. "You're being ridiculous. Who could make me?"

"Nevermind... I guess I better get home anyways..." He said dismissing the fact that something about the conversation wasn't right. He walked back over to his bike and climbed onto it, his lanky figure seemingly weak all of a sudden.
He stared at the sky with pleading eyes and got lost in his thoughts again. He looked terribly upset by the way Rin was acting, but, he knew she was leaving because he was there. Or was she? This was all so confusing for him.

He looked so hurt. So completely distant from himself, and definitely not the Haru Rin knew. She hesitated a moment, wanting to call out and explain that it was all Akito's fault, and that she really loved him for being the only one to only one who knew her, and why couldn't he see that in her now? Because she covered it so well, hiding for him. "Fine, Haru," she murmured, and glanced down briefly at her boot covered feet. She started to explain, started to say, "Haru, I-" but she trailed off before she could continue.
(Sorry about taking so long. I had a call come in.)

Haru looked at her, "There's no need to say anything." He climbed on his bike the rest of the way and started towards his house. "There isn't anything she could say to change how I feel." There wasn't anything that could be done, he just wanted to be left alone suddenly. Instead, he would act as though everything was perfect, as though there were no flaw in him.
Haru stopped again to think, he stared at the ground. This wasn''t one of those things he could hide or bottle up. He knew there would be consequences to it. He sighed and brushed a hand through his hair, "Stupid Haru..." he mumbled, before beginning again.

Rin watched him, waiting for a moment before starting towards the bike, and looking prepared to walk past the boy to the streets beyond it. Even Kagura, stifling and over run with talks of Kyo, was better thaen this. Perhaps she couldn't come here anymore. Not if it meant being this close to Haru, and not being able to say anything or do anything to explain the situation she was in. Akito had trapped her, by threatening Haru, and what else was there to do? He'd saved her when she was younger, so she couldn't just continue when Akito might hurt Haru the way she did to Hatori. She wanted to kick something. Very hard. She wanted so much to lose her temper. Perhaps later, but she wouldn't now. She'd control herself, no matter how much it would kill her. "Bye, Haru." Was she speaking to him, really?

Haru continued to ride away suddenly, faster, really fast. He went to turn, but, turned a tad bit sharply and tumbled over on his bike. He fell off onto the side and winced, "Ouch!" he yelped in pain.
(Sorry, siblings are over.)

She had turned and started back towards him even before she knew what she was doing. Kneeling down beside him, she brushed long strands from her face with an impatient hand. "Did you hurt yourself?" Pulling back the wrist guard from around her handm she held it out to him to help him up, her fingers twitched slightly and coaxing.
(It's fine. I had to get off and do homework and take a shower anyway.)

Haru looked at her face, and then at her hand. She'd been so cold to him earlier, and now she was helping him. Confusion spread throught his body, but, he didn't let his feelings show. He grabbed her hand and feebly pulled himself up.
"Thanks Rin." He said to her softly. His hand was still in her's, but, he didn't think of taking it away. He just... Left it there.

Rin looked down at their interlocked hands for a long moment, either cursing herself for losing the easy control she'd had, or maybe unable to look him in the face. She half shrugged, glancing now over at the house from where they'd come. "Don't thank me. I didn't do anything worth being thanked over." She started to pull her hand back, slowly, almost hesitantly, and added, "Did you hurt yourself?" Her voice was a forced calm, trying too hard to seem off hand, and not quite hiding her worry for the white haired boy.
