Oh god. Now I'm in for it. They'll take me to a blasted doctor, get me- somehow -to a point where I'll stop... Suffocating, then they'll lecture me about my dammned health! Suddenly, as if by power of thought, the gagging stopped. Odd thing to have happened, considering Rei had not once ever had control over her sickness, let alone being able to stop it.Her eyes widened considerably, and she gave it a trial cough- nothing. "Umm...." She started, trying to remember what the boy hovering over her had asked. She just kind of, knelt there, feeling more confused than anything else.

"Sure," Miku said nervously, also leaning over Rei. With a small smile she noticed some of the color returning to his cheeks.

Kai blinked, at a major loss of words. "How'd you do that?" he asked Miku, in the way someone would if they truely thought that the sudden stop to Rei's coughing had been caused by, well, magic. A light joking tone to his words proved he was smarter than that though. if only a little @.@

"What..." She started, staring at the two towering over her, realizing that besides the fact she knew one was the Honda-child, the other seemed to be the older brother to the boar, even though she doubt he recognized Rei at al... "The Hell?" She tossed her self back, letting her form get up without cracking heads with someone else... Then Rei rose, dusted herself off, gave a cold look at both of the people standing before her, and spoke. "Well? Do you two plan on standing there all day, or is it just you Kei, acting as pig-headed as your sister? Surely the Honda-child (Rei's new nickname for the girl) has more sense than to just stand around all day, hm?"

"Hm?" Miku said towards Kei, then straightened and lowered her head at Rei for a few moments. "I'm so happy you're okay now," she said sincerely, though still apprehensive. If he started coughing so quickly and could end it just as fast, who was to say that it wouldn't happen again? "Do you still need help? I know I don't know my way around--but if there's anything you need, just tell me!"

Obviously, the girl was going to be hard to crack... Too kind. She had warned of this...
She raised an eyebrow at the girl, her distaste for outsiders quite evident. "Why would I want help from you?" It was a bit of a rhetorical question, and Rei was not expecting any sort of answer, maybe a reaction, which would explain the way she was staring at Miku, surveying her emotions.

"I..." Miku said quietly, lowering her eyes. She didn't know the answer to his question and had been rendered momentarily speechless. "I'm worried; I don't want you to get sick again. I didn't want to make you do something for yourself when I could have done it for you," she finally said, in a feeble attempt at defending herself. Her eyes still hadn't left the ground. She felt so terrible. She must have done something to upset Rei, especially because of the way he was looking at her.

Kai (by the way, it's pronounced like, Kye or something @.@) blinked, a little confused by the Head's sudden mood swings -last time he checked, guys didn't have mood swings, but Kai didn't exactly know the full story >.>- He knew here was no reason Rei should feel grateful, because it obviously wasn't his presence that healed the Head, but there, without a doubt, was no reason for Rei to take 'his' anger out on Miku. "Hey, what'd she do to be treated like dirt?" he asked in a short snap, though making sure to keep his tones as quickly near 'respectful' as humanely possible when that type of annoyance was washing over you.

Immediately, Rei put aside what The Honda Child had said, and slowly turned her head to Kei, eyes hollow, cold, and threatening. She was more than well aware of how protective the boy was to his little sister, and he, through hearing even the slightest inkling of Maid gossip, would soon learn the terror that stood before him. "Tell me, Kei-kun, Why I shouldn't do something such as treating the daughter of a whore with the same respect her mother would have received?" Although she was speaking to Kei, her torment was obviously devoted to Miku. "I mean, her mother was quite a heart-breaker, even you must have heard the stories Kei, of how her mother betrayed the hearts of both Neko and Nezumi!" She knew quite well that she had just divulged their secret, if the girl hadn't already had knowledge of it, but Rei also knew, quite well, that she could have her Dragon step in, and rid any such memories of the girl's mind.

Miku listened, and the more Rei talked, the more it felt like someone was squeezing her bare heart with angry hands. She leaned over, her hands pressed over her face, shoulders shaking. Rei's references were over her head, but the true meaning of it, and the venom in his voice, was obvious. "Sto--" she choked, tears streaming one after another down her cheeks. Miku opened her mouth to finish her words, but all that came out was a soft sob.

She turned her empty gaze to Miku, a sly smile controlling her lips. "Oh my, I seem to have hurt the Honda Child. Don't tell me that you were unaware of your mother's horrific actions! I am just so glad that My Nezumi will not have to face such a terrible fate. Death by thier own hands, was how so many of my predescessor's beloved Jyunishi passed, hopefully my own will not face such a terrible disaster." She was trying desperately to rile up a reaction to the curse from the girl, otherwise she would be a worthless plaything.

Jyunishi...
Jyunishi...
Miku struggled to remain standing against her legs which were threatening to give out on her, her tears momentarily withheld in her eyes. Jyunishi...
"The Jyunishi," she said, closing her eyes and turning her face away. "I thought it was just a story."
"Mommy...can you tell me a story? Before bed? Please?" a young Miku asked, tucked tightly into bed, her mother laying next to her.
"Of course I'll tell you a story, as long as you promise to go to bed right after!" replied the mother. She had aged very little over the eight years that she had left her old home. Her dark brown hair was shorter, now, and her bangs had grown out, just barely skimming her jawline, the color lighter by two or three shades. Though there was something very different about her, something one wouldn't see unless you had known her well before. Etched into her eyes was an unmistakable sadness and longing. "I'll tell you the story of the Jyunishi, like my mother told me. Only I know of a real, live Zodiac called the Jyunishi, ruled by a sad, angry ruler that hurt all her Jyunishi because of her pain. It all started when God made all the little animals and invited them to a party..."

The sly smile grew, the icy glare givien to the girl unwavering. Ah Yes, she'll be so much fun To toy with...
"No little girl, our /curse/ is no story." She took a step towards the girl, leaving only a few paces uncalled for. "And I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but you just walked straight into it."

"But that...can't be," she protested, her arms wrapping around herself. "Why is your family the cursed one? What did you all ever do? It doesn't...m-make sense! I'm sure you're all really wonderful people..."
Miku tried to remember all her mother had told her about the Jyunishi. Though as a child she had cherished the story and asked her mother to tell her over again, it seemed after the first time it just pained her too much to say over. Looking back, the younger version of herself hadn't noticed the tears in her mother's eyes as she told the story, or the way she would get happy over one thing she mentioned and sad over the next. She had just thought it was a favorite story of her mother's...but not something she had actually experienced, like she said.
