Okay, so, I wanna play Shiritori. I dunno how well this will work on the internet. But I really wanna try.
The posts will be small (really, just one word), and if this dies it's okay, it was worth a shot.
My one debate is this: Shiritori is supposed to be played using Japanese words, but we can use English, since if we used Japanese the number of words to use would decrease depressingly.
So here's my idea. We can do English Shiritori, only we'll theme it so that we can't just go grab the dictionary.
Oh, and, uh, it just occurred to me that the term "Shiritori" might not ring any bells with people. Sorry. Let me do this:
SHIRITORI
HOW TO PLAY
Shiritori is where you take the last letter (the last syllable, in the case of Japanese) of a word and think of a new word that starts with that letter. For example, if two people were playing.
PERSON A: Apple. <---E is the last letter, so
PERSON B: Elephant. <----T is the last letter so
PERSON A: Thimble.
RULES:
1. You cannot make up words.
2. You cannot use a word twice. If it was said in that round, it can't be said again.
3. Absolutely NO LOOKING UP WORDS BEFORE PLAYING. If it didn't come out of your head it doesn't belong here.
4. Abbreviations count, as long as the unabbreviated word has not been used, and you indicate what the abbreviation stands for. People can choose to use either the last letter in the abbreviation or the last letter in the unabbreviated word.
You get the idea. This game would take years in English. So here's the idea.
THEMED SHIRITORI
Where we think of a theme, such as "Manga," "Places," or "Nature" and all the words must relate to that theme in some way. So, for manga, you could list the names of manga artists, manga titles, character names, dates, places that sell manga, and words like "page, lines, frames, art, mecha robots" and so forth. If you think it's an obscure reference, or that it doesn't follow the current train of thought, you might want to put a little note underneath indicating how it relates.
Okay? Okay. Are there any questions, and does anyone want to play?
Just because, I'm assuming people want to play. I'm choosing the first theme, and it's RPG. Anything related to RPG qualifies. In this case, I'll start with the word
MONSTER
